Attendance Policy

School Hours

School beings at 8:30 A.M. and ends at 3:00 P.M. Monday-Thursday. School is dismissed at 2:00 P.M. on Friday. Aftercare charges begin thirty minutes after dismissal.

Attendance

Students are expected to attend classes regularly and punctually. All absences shall require a phone call or personal contact from the parent to the office by 9:00 a.m. on each day absent. A note should be sent with the student upon return to school to be placed in their personal file. Student absences are considered un-excused, if there is no notification or written excuse. The purpose of the note is to help the office determine the reason for the absence is a legal excuse or not. The note is used to determine if the student can make up their work or receive zeros.

Accepted Excuses for Non-Attendance

Verified illnesses
Unavoidable medical services
Quarantine
Bereavement

Students will be allowed to make up work resulting from excused absences. All un-excused absences will result in a zero for all work missed.

IF A STUDENT EXCEEDS SEVEN ABSENCES IN ONE SEMESTER, HE/SHE COULD RECEIVE A FAILING GRADE FOR THAT SEMESTER.

Exemption Clause

The Admissions Committee has the authority to grant extension to this policy in cases of extended illness/injury or special absences. A doctor s note will be necessary in order to remain in school.

Tardy Policy

Promptness to class is very important. Excuses for chronic tardiness may not be accepted and will subject the student to discipline. Students will be marked tardy at 8:35 a.m. to encourage our students to arrive on time and their parents to get them to school on time. You will receive a tardy report when your child receives 5 tardies. Repeated absences and tardies should be referred to the principal who will report the case to the school board for consideration and to the public school authorities as required by law in the area.

Arrival Procedures

Before school care 7:00 to 8:45 will be held in the gym. The Child Care Coordinator will have students sit in designated areas. Students will not be able to enter the classroom areas until 8:15. Student will be marked tardy at 8:30. Students who enter through the main entrance after 8:30 a.m. must report to the office.

Departure Procedures

School will dismiss at 3:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday and at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. On days before some holidays or as noted on the school calendar, school will dismiss at 12:00 noon. Students should be picked up promptly. There will be no aftercare services available on these days.

At 3:00 p.m. daily (except Fridays) students will be escorted to the gym by their teachers. Students will be dismissed from gym. The Child Care-giver will notify students when their rides come. Students should remain seated, talking quietly until they are picked up.
