School History
Ramah Junior Academy established in 1925, represents a tradition of more than 75 years of primary school instruction in the Greater Cleveland area. The present school is sponsored by 6 constituent Seventh-day Adventist churches.
The policies, regulations, and general management of our school are determined by a board chosen from our six constituent churches--Bethel, Glenville, Maranatha, Present Truth, Temple of Praise and Southeast.
Our school is just one of the 4,380 schools, colleges and universities operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Organization, which has the largest world-wide Protestant school system. An integral aspect of this educational system is the teachings of the fundamental beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Public vs. Christian Education
Many people talk about the dollar cost of Christian Education. It is true that sending a child to a Christian School costs more money than free public school. But consider the other costs! How much is it worth to send you child to a school that has a safe, loving environment?
Here we have listed the top seven benefits of a Christian Education at Ramah Junior Academy:
1. Children learn about a God who loves them.
2. No drugs, gangs or weapons on campus.
3. Caring, quality teachers.
4. Low student to teacher ratio.
5. Credentialed by the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
6. All grades are fully transferable to state schools.
7. Supported by six constituent churches
Educational Philosophy
Ramah Junior Academy provides education for children in grades Kindergarten through Eight.
Seventh-day Adventist Christian Education, in cooperation with home and school is dedicated to the fulfillment of one great purpose, to restore in man the image of his Maker, to bring him back to the perfection in which he was created, to promote the development of body, mind and soul, that the divine purpose of this creation might be realized.
Seventh-day Adventist Christian Education places a high estimate on the infinite worth of every individual and seeks to provide a climate in which a positive self-image may be developed. By providing a biblically based curriculum, we seek to develop the spiritual, mental, physical, and social aspects of our students. Preparing students to live successfully and productively in today s society and the society to come (heaven) is our goal.
Objectives
True education means more than the persual of a certain course of study. It means more than preparation for the life that now is. It has to do with the whole being, and with the whole period of existence possible to man. It is the harmonious development of the physical, the mental, and the spiritual powers, it prepares the student for the joy of service in this world and for the higher joy of wider service in the world to come.
Spiritual: To assist with a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and prepare students for unselfish service to God and mankind.
Mental: To develop with each student a quest for knowledge and a desire to arrive at the highest degree of excellence in accordance with his/her ability.
Physical: To help students understand and practice the principles of healthful living and to recognize that physical fitness is the foundation for any achievement of life.
Social: To train each student in the responsibility of citizenship, and encourage good manners, taste, and judgment in social decisions.
